Abstract

|
Dumbell shaped schwannomas of hypoglossal nerve extending intra- and extracranially are very rare. The one case eports on a 54-year-old patient who presented with hoarseness and un a ware tongue atrophy. MRI showed inhomogeneous contrast agent enhancement in a tumor in the cerebellomedullary cistern. The tumor extended midline and severely compressed brainstem. And it extended extracranially thorough the hypoglossal canal. The tumor was nearly total removed via suboccipital approach and the patient was discharged with improved hoarseness and no additional neurologic deficit.
